eLumen is looking for a UX Designer to join our Minneapolis office.  The ideal candidate has strong UX design experience in a collaborative team environment delivering SaaS enterprise software. Our team in Minneapolis provides leadership to our global Software Development team.  In this role, you will help set the user experience direction for the platform through mentorship and the development of a UX strategy.

All over the world, tens of thousands of Colleges, Community Colleges, and Universities teach the next generation of talent.  These institutions are under great pressure to provide meaningful instruction that actually prepares students for the real world.  Meanwhile, they are also navigating the complex process of managing their curriculum, and meeting the regulatory requirements of their region to receive public funding.

eLumen is a system of record that helps institutional efforts work better by working together.  Our integrated Assessment and Curriculum Management system provides real-time insights into student learning outcomes, curricular performance, and student success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Tirelessly advocate on behalf of the user
  • Be extremely passionate about learning the Higher Education Technology domain
  • Be a self-organized “bird-dog” who hunts down knowledge when institutional knowledge gaps are found
  • Participate in UX team research activities, including research design, conducting client site visits, and quantitative research and analysis, such as surveys
  • Collaborate with the Product Owners to establish modern UI patterns by creating a front-end component library for use by the development teams
  • Collaborate with eLumen’s Customer Success Management and Sales teams to ensure client-user representation in UX processes
  • Facilitate meetings to gather, socialize, and refine technical solutions
  • Communicate broadly across the organization, both verbally and through diagrams, flowcharts, layouts, and charts
  • Continuously strive to improve the software development process
  • Work within an Agile, continuous deployment development environment
  • Provide aid and support to other departments in the use of software

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in UX design required
  • Portfolio demonstrating mastery of UX design skills and breadth of experience
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent experience in User Experience/UI Design, HCI, Digital Design, or Graphic Design
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative solutioning skills
  • Strong communication, both written and verbal
  • Strong technical design skills with a highly-developed sense of aesthetics
  • Strong visual communication and extemporaneous ideation skills; experience with Axure, Adobe XD, Figma, Balsamiq, Sketch or similar design tools
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite tools, especially Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Experience in education technology/higher education
